Zoning Board

The Zoning Board of Review processes all applications for Zoning Variances, Zoning Appeals and Special Use Permits, in compliance with the City's Zoning Ordinances. 

Applications

There are two types of zoning forms, and each serves a different purpose:

  1. The Zoning Determination form is to request information about the current zoning of the property. There is a $50 fee associated with this form. This form does not alter the zoning or require going before the Zoning Board.
  2. The Zoning Application is the form one must fill out to get a Zoning Variance, a Special Use Permit, or make other alterations to the current zoning. There is a $50 fee plus the cost of advertising and postage* , and you must appear before the Zoning Board. (*Fees will be determined by Planning Department staff)

Zoning Check

To allow for easier access and understanding of zoning in Central Falls, the city has paired with ZoningCheck, an online source that provides information about zoning and what types of businesses are permitted in different plots without a applying for a Zoning Alteration or variance. To access this tool click here.

  • Please Note:  ZoningCheck is only a useful tool, and the Department of Code Enforcement still needs a formal Zoning Determination Letter if you wish to open a business
  • This tool might have difficulty if you use internet explorer. If you have problems viewing the map, try using a different browser such as Chrome or Firefox.

 

Meetings

The Zoning Board meets every third Wednesday in the Council Chambers in City Hall, 580 Broad Street, Central Falls, RI. and requires 15 days at a minimum to publicize a hearing.
