Planning Board

The Planning Board of the City of Central Falls is a body required by Rhode Island State law, and in this city is comprised of 5 Central Falls residents appointed by the Mayor. The Board is tasked with several responsibilities, which include creating and approving a Comprehensive Community Plan, advising the City Council on ordinances relating to land use, and approving development plans and lot mergers and subdivisions in accordance with the City's Land Development and Subdivision Review Regulations.

To request Planning Board approval for a land development, merger or subdivision, submit an Application. There are varying levels of subdivision, merger, and land development, and while they all use the same application, they require different levels of review and therefore different fees, as outlined below:

Planning Board Fees

  • Administrative Land Development or Subdivision: $1,000
  • Minor Land Development or Subdivision: $2,000
  • Major Land Development or Subdivision: $3,000 

Meetings

The Planning Board meets as needed, but requires 15 days at a minimum to publicize a hearing.
