Central Falls kicks off 2018 Summer Food Service Program

Program Offers Youth Breakfast, Lunch, and Activities all Free of Charge

Central Falls – On Wednesday, June 27th, Mayor James A. Diossa and the City of Central Falls will kick-off the 5th Annual Summer Food Service Program with the Annual Kick-Off Event. The event will be held at Jenks Park from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. The event and summer program is completely free and open to the public.

“Now in our fifth year, the Summer Food Service Program continues to provide our youth with the opportunity to enjoy fun activities and sports for free during the summer months that they are out of school. This year we have been able to partner with more organizations to grow the program,” said Mayor James A. Diossa.

Books Are Wings Receives Grants to Support Literacy Efforts in Central Falls

Pawtucket, RI (June 22, 2018) – Books Are Wings is pleased to announce it has received grants from Collette, The June Rockwell Levy Foundation and the 2018 Rhode Island Foundation Community Grant to support literacy efforts in Central Falls. Grant awards will bring Books Are Wings programming to the Central Falls summer camp program, establish six Little Free Libraries in strategic locations throughout Central Falls and distribute free children’s books to students throughout the school year.

Central Falls – On Thursday, June 14th, Mayor James A. Diossa unveiled his commissioned “The World in One Square Mile: Central Falls,” a children’s book chronicling the many people and cultures that together have paved Central Falls’ remarkable history. The book, which was written by Dr. Morgan Grefe, and funded through a grant from the Rhode Island Foundation, is available for purchase on Amazon and Stillwater River Publications.

Residents and Businesses face no tax increase for 2019 Fiscal Year

Central Falls – On Tuesday, June 12th, the Central Falls City Council approved Mayor James A. Diossa’s proposed budget for the 2019 fiscal year. The budget was highlighted by Mayor Diossa’s decision to forego a tax increase for residents and businesses in the city.

“I am grateful that we were able to pass the budget for fiscal year 2019 with no substantial changes to what my administration originally proposed,” said Mayor James A. Diossa. “I am thrilled that our residents will have no tax increase while also receiving the same high quality services that have turned our City around.”
