CENTRAL FALLS, RI – Councilman Franklin Solano partnered with Mayor James A. Diossa in leading the celebration of the Dominican Republic with a flag raising at the Central Falls City Hall.
“It is important that we celebrate our heritage and where we come from,” said Councilman Franklin Solano. ‘This is why I am so thankful that I have been able to partner with the City and Mayor Diossa in celebrating the independence of the Dominican Republic. During times like this, it is important to listen to President John F. Kennedy and, ‘ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country.”
“Central Falls is a diverse community. In order to know where we are going, we have to know where we come from,” stated Mayor James A. Diossa. “ I was excited to see this event come into fruition for the second straight year with Councilman Franklin Solano, who has been a great asset to our community.”
The Dominican Republic’s independence is celebrated on February 27th. Elected officials including Council President Bob Ferri, Councilwoman Maria Rivera, Councilman Jonathan Acosta, and state officials were also in attendance. See more photos of the event here.
