The Central Falls Office on Health is calling upon residents to make 7 masks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19!

About the Challenge:

Coronavirus is a disease that is spread through respiratory droplets by people who have the disease coughing and sneezing around other people. Coronavirus can be spread within homes as well. The 7 Mask Challenge is a way for everyone to do their part to help prevent spread of COVID-19 in Central Falls. Scientific evidence shows that Coronavirus spreads inside households, which is a place where many people get sick. We are involving everyone in Central Falls in a campaign to encourage every family and every person in Central Falls make seven masks for everyone in their household, so that we prepare every household in case anyone gets sick.  In this way, we may help people stay safe, and we will engage everyone in the city in a process to learn about Coronavirus, how it is spread, and what we can all do to prevent its spread, and help reduce the burden of illness in the city in the near term.

Homemade masks are not considered personal protective equipment by the CDC, since their true ability to protect against COVID-19 is unknown. When homemade masks are used, individuals should continue to protect themselves appropriately from the virus, which includes social distancing, limiting time with others, avoiding touching your face and hand-washing, as recommended by the CDC.  This process hopes to bring attention to Central Falls residents on the need to stay home, avoid others who are ill and send the ill into isolation within the home, and for the remaining family members to self-isolate for 14 days to reduce transmission to others.

The mission:

We at the City of Central Falls challenge you and every family in Central Falls to make seven (7) masks for everyone in your household in case your family gets sick. Videos and instructions on how to construct these masks and their importance can be found in the links below in English, Spanish, and Creole:
